Vanuatu is an archipelago located in the South Pacific Ocean about 1,750 km east of northern Australia and west of Fiji. It is made up of 83 volcanic islands, which are divided into six provinces. The capital city is Port Vila on the island of Efate. Vanuatu covers an area of 12,189 square kilometers and has a population of around 270,000 people. Vanuatu’s geography is dominated by its islands, with some mountainous terrain and the highest point being Mount Tabwemasana at 1,879 meters above sea level. The terrain consists mostly of rugged mountains that are interspersed with narrow coastal plains in some areas. The area code for Vanuatu is +678. This country code applies to all incoming calls from outside Vanuatu and international calls from within the country. It also applies to sending text messages to any mobile phone number in Vanuatu from outside the country or from within it.
