According to Allcitycodes, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a country located in the Middle East. The country is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the west and south, Oman to the east and northeast, and Qatar to the northwest. The total area of UAE is 83,600 sq km (32,278 sq mi). The terrain consists mainly of desert with some mountains in the north and east. The population of UAE is estimated at 9.89 million people as of 2020. Arabic is the official language of UAE while English is also widely spoken. The currency used in UAE is the dirham (AED). The area code for UAE is +971 which can be used when dialing both within UAE or from abroad. To make an international call from outside UAE to another country you must dial “00” followed by your country’s international access code then “971” followed by your desired number. For example: 00 + 971 + 99999999 (your desired number). In terms of geography, much of UAE consists of vast desert with some mountains in its northern and eastern regions such as Jebel Hafeet which reaches 1,249 m (4,098 ft) above sea level. The highest peak in the country is Jabal Yibir at 1,527 m (5,016 ft) above sea level located in Ras Al Khaimah emirate. Other large bodies of water include Dubai Creek which flows through Dubai City and into the Persian Gulf while other smaller water bodies are found throughout the region such as Wadi Wurayah which forms part of a protected wildlife sanctuary near Fujairah City on the east coast.
