It has a total area of 36,193 square kilometers (13,974 square miles) which makes it slightly larger than Maryland in the United States. The landscape in Taiwan consists of coastal plains in the west and central mountains running from north to south. The highest point is Yushan at 3,952 meters (12,966 feet). The climate is mostly subtropical with hot summers and mild winters. Temperatures range from 10°C (50°F) during winter months to 35°C (95°F) during summer months. The international dialling code for Taiwan is +886 followed by either 8 digits for landlines or 10 digits for mobile phones e.g: +886 xx xxx xx xx or +886 xx xxx xxx xxx respectively where ‘x’ represents any digit between 0-9 depending on your telephone number’s location within each province/city/town respectively. Taiwan area codes are divided into two categories – national area codes consisting of one digit followed by seven digits e.g: 2-xxxxxxx; and local area codes consisting of three digits followed by six digits e.g: 03-xxxxxx where ‘x’ represents any digit between 0-9 depending on your telephone number’s location within each district/province/city/town respectively.
