According to Allcitycodes, Uruguay is a small South American country located between Argentina and Brazil. It has an area of 176,215 sq km (68,039 sq mi) and a population of 3.45 million people as of 2020. Its capital and largest city is Montevideo. The official language is Spanish but English is also spoken in certain areas. The currency used in the country is the Uruguayan peso (UYU). The area code for Uruguay is +598 which can be used when dialing both within the country or from abroad. To make an international call from outside Uruguay to another country you must dial “00” followed by your country’s international access code then “598” followed by your desired number. For example: 00 + 598 + 99999999 (your desired number). In terms of geography, much of Uruguay consists of lowland plains with some hills in its eastern regions such as Cerro Catedral which reaches 513 m (1683 ft) above sea level located near Montevideo on the east coast.
