Samoa is an island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean, about halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand. It consists of two main islands, Upolu and Savai’i, as well as several smaller islands. The total land area is 2,831 km2 with a population of over 200,000 people. The terrain is mostly mountainous with tropical rainforests and coral reefs. The highest point in the country is Mauga Silisili at 1,858 meters (6,096 ft) above sea level. The climate is tropical with temperatures ranging from 24°C in July to 29°C in January.
